Firefighters and police were called to the scene - and buses are diverting
Motorists were faced with heavy traffic this morning following a crash on a Nottinghamshire A-road. Emergency services were at the scene of the collision on the A38 at its junction with Sutton Road in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Ashfield Fire Station said it sent both its fire engines to the area, while police and an ambulance were also present. "Both Appliances from Ashfield Fire Station are in attendance at an RTC at the traffic lights on the A38, Ego / Fire Station junction," it said in a Facebook post. "Traffic is heavy on all the approaches as lanes are closed. Police and ambulance are also in attendance. Please slow down and find an alternative route if you can."
Live traffic maps showed queues forming on both sides of the road, however both carriageways appeared to be open. Traffic monitoring site Inrix said: "Reports of queueing traffic due to accident on A38 Kings Mill Road West in both directions at B6018 Sutton Road." In a later update, Inrix said the A38 Kings Mill Road was partially blocked in both directions, and some bus services were diverting as a result of the collision.
