Police attending a crash north of Brisbane on Thursday got into a punching match with one of the drivers – an altercation caught on video and which resulted in the man being tased and arrested.
Police attending a crash north of Brisbane on Thursday repeatedly struck one of the drivers and deployed a Taser while he remained in the front seat of a damaged car.
A police spokesperson said officers attended a three-vehicle crash on the corner of Gympie and Samsonvale roads at Strathpine about 1.45pm. Dashcam footage shows the driver’s vehicle turning a corner at speed before hitting stationary vehicles stopped at the lights. Witnesses told Nine News the driver appeared to be holding a wine bottle before police arrived at the scene. He then returned to his car.
Separate footage shows an officer repeatedly striking the man through the open passenger side window.“On arrival, officers will allege they were confronted by an aggressive driver of one of the vehicles. Police were forced to use a Taser and physical force to take him into custody,” the spokesperson said.“Investigations are ongoing and police will review the matter.”
