Officials warned against the risk of heat-related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke, amid sweltering temperatures.

Parts of California are expected to be under an excessive heat warning this week, with forecasters predicting sweltering temperatures of up to 108 degrees Fahrenheit between Monday and Thursday.

The same weather advisory has been issued for the west side mountains north and south of Highway 198, where the thermometer is expected to reach up to 105 degrees. Kern River Valley, under the same weather advisory, may experience temperatures of up to 106 degrees.
