Some protesters cemented their limbs in place inside large metal oil drums, police say.

The California Highway Patrol on Tuesday defended its slow processing of a protest which shut down traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge .on the bridge Monday shut down multiple lanes of traffic and led to significant traffic backups. Police on the scene did not resolve the situation for about three hours.

We received numerous calls today asking why we didn’t just arrest protesters as soon as we arrived,” CHPvia X. “The photos below along with video on our other social media channels show what officers had to work through before making arrests.”
