Several reservoirs have a caution advisory in place regarding the possible presence of toxic algae in the water.
The California Department of Water Resources is urging pet owners not to let their pets drink the water at some reservoirs across the state, as shown in a Newsweek map.On Monday night, the DWR alerted people on X that a caution advisory had been issued at Pyramid Lake in Los Angeles County regarding toxic algal blooms.
Newsweek reached out to the DWR by email for comment.People are advised against drinking the water and told not to use it for cooking either. If fish are caught in the affected waterways, fillets should be cleaned with tap water before cooking. Shellfish from affected waterways should not be consumed.Not all algae are toxic, but it's impossible to tell just by looking at it.
