Millions of people have been placed under air-quality alerts with thousands of firefighters engaged in tackling the largest blaze in California this year.
A wildfire in the US has scorched an area larger than the city of Los Angeles bringing widespread devastation. Officials added the so-called Park Fire is the largest such blaze in California this year and is one of more than 100 wildfires burning in the country. Some have been sparked by the hot weather, with climate change increasing the frequency of lightning strikes as the western US endures blistering heat and bone-dry conditions.
No injuries or fatalities have been reported. More reinforcements have been called in. Dry conditions and strong winds were increasing the fire danger, the National Weather Service said.
