A 16-year-old boy is believed to have got into difficulty while swimming in a lake on the hottest day of the year so far. Police are looking for him.

A 16-year-old boy believed to have got into difficulty while swimming in a lake on the hottest day of the year so far is missing. Police were called to Burnside Lakes in the Cambridgeshire suburb of Cherry Hinton at 5.26pm on Monday over concerns for a teenager in the water. Cambridgeshire Police said specialist teams attended but the boy has still not been found.

The toddler was found in water near the canal towpath in Hendon Avenue, Ettingshall, after police were called at 5.30pm. That incident followed the discovery of a 33-year-old man's body on 6 August in a river in Coventry. Ahead of a sunny spell last month, swimmers were warned of the dangers of open water.
