Boss hails players for getting the job done to reach West League 1
Cambuslang Rugby Club boss Gavin Blackburn says it’s ‘job done’ after sealing promotion to West League 1 – even if they might not win the league.
With Bishopton holding a healthy 12-point lead over third-placed Carrick, who have one game left, Cambuslang are guaranteed a step-up place, and Blackburn is content with that.“I would love us to stay where we are, but I think Bishopton will win their remaining games. “We’re going to look to have a players’ meeting, we’ll set some key dates for pre-season friendlies, the start of pre-season, and then we’ll take some time off.“We’ll restart probably in the third week in June, building towards West 1 and we’ll look to finish as high as we can there.
“Squad-wise we’re going to go with what we’ve got, and we’ll look to add a few new faces if we can and try to strengthen – we’d be silly not to do that. But I would imagine it would be the core of the squad that got us up here.
