The American stopper joined up late with his team-mates after starring at the Copa America for his country.
He's the quiet man of the Celtic dressing room but Cameron Carter-Vickers learned from Harry Kane that actions often speak louder than words.
“In my position at the time there was Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen. For me at the time maybe they were the best centre-back partnership in the Premier League. That definitely helped. Just watching them every day in training I learnt a lot. On loan as well, there was Luke Chambers at Ipswich who was our captain. I think he’d been at Ipswich for years and he was a real leader. There’s definitely been a few leaders I’ve looked up to.
Carter-Vickers said: “I think there’s a few. The ones you name, Greg’s also fairly vocal. Ali Johnston, I’d class as a bit of a leader as well. The team is so close that anyone can really have an opinion and if it’s a good one everyone will listen and accept it. I don’t know if it’s a case of real big leaders. It’s just a case of a collaborative effort to go in the right direction and pull in the right direction.
It’s a different story 12 months on and the former Spurs man admitted he’s been working on ways to make sure he avoids further injuries in the future. Carter-Vickers is a London boy but he admitted he enjoyed his summer spent in his dad Howard’s homeland with the Copa America in the US before Celtic joined the party. His old man was a college basketball star and Carter-Vickers got a kick out of getting the chance to see Michael Jordan’s old stomping ground on the North Carolina leg of the tour.
