Campbell Hatton didn't waste any time in moving to 9-0 with brutal first round body shot knockout
Meanwhile, Hatton celebrated what is only the third stoppage of his fledgling career
After a slow start to the round, at the midway point Hatton dropped his opponent, but Bartos beat the count and managed to make it back to his feet. This revival from Bartos did not last long, however, as Hatton came charging across the ring and immediately landed a crushing left hook to the body that saw his opponent writhing around on the canvas.
The shot was reminiscent of Ricky Hatton’s signature body shot KO that he scored on many occasions, most notably against Jose Luis Castillo. Hatton spoke about his latest victory in his post-fight interview, saying, “I’m not moaning, but I didn’t get to show as much as I would’ve liked to and I think even though I got the stoppage, I’m not going to get carried away with it.
“The challenges are going to get a lot harder, but I think if I’d have gone in the old way it would have been a much more scrappy stoppage and like I said in the press conference, a stoppage wouldn’t have been enough, it’s got to be a thoughtful one and that’s what it was, I picked my punches rather than bulldozing him down to the floor.
