Luke Littler is aiming to make history tonight by becoming the youngest ever world darts champion. The Nuke booked his place in his second successive final at Alexandra Palace after he defeated Stephen Bunting to set up a showpiece final against Michael van Gerwen. Littler's achievement is all the more impressive given he is still only aged 17. The darts sensation, who hails from Warrington , has enjoyed a stunning 12 months after he shot to stardom at last year's PDC World Darts Championship.
Fans were in disbelief as Littler announced himself in the world of darts in style with what seemed like an unlikely run to the final. Littler was aged only 16 at the time and he was forced to address his real age during an interview with talkSPORT. Andy Goldstein said he had a bet with the other presenters that Littler was actually in his mid-thirties. The young darts star was taken aback as he shut down the comment and revealed he matured beyond his years as he could grow a beard when he was 14. He said: 'You’ve had a bet? You’ve lost your money there because I’m 16.” He added: “I’d say a good two years now.” Littler took on Luke Humphries in last year's final but was narrowly defeated 7-4 after a valiant effort in a tense, topsy turvy final that was impossible to predict. The ECHO was in attendance for the event at Littler's local pub who gave their hometown hero a standing ovation despite the rules. A patron at the Millhouse pub named Jacob said: 'He's captured the imagination of the whole nation and not just his hometown. Being able to sit and watch him has been absolutely amazing. 'The news story after it said Luke Littler lost rather than Luke Humphries won so that sums it up. He was the story.' Littler has bounced back in style and is aiming to go one step further against the three time winner, van Gerwen, as he is aware of where he made mistakes in the 2024 fina
