Northern Territory Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro has revealed she will vote against the proposal to enshrine an Indigenous Voice to Parliament in the constitution.
Mrs Finocchiaro told Mix FM she would be voting No because the government had failed to provide enough detail about what the Voice was and how it would work.
Three of these members would represent about 70,000 Aboriginal people who live in the Northern Territory. Meanwhile there would be two members representing about 7000 Aboriginal people who live in the ACT. The motions were successful but the party’s parliamentary wing, led by Mrs Finocchiaro, remained uncommitted on the issue.
