Police in Blackburn discovered a cannabis farm hidden in plain sight thanks to a tip-off from residents and a curious lack of snow on the roof during a recent cold snap. The discovery highlights the importance of community vigilance and how even seemingly small details can lead to significant busts.
Police in Blackburn seized a cannabis farm after observing a house with suspiciously no snow on the roof during a recent cold spell. Officers acted on Wednesday morning (February 12th) following reports from concerned residents who suspected the property on St James' Road was being used for illegal cultivation. The lack of snow on the roof, indicating a strong heat source emanating from within, prompted a police raid. Upon entering the house, officers discovered 80 mature cannabis plants.
No arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing, with more warrants planned for the remainder of the week. Blackburn and Darwen Police announced the bust on their Facebook page, crediting community intelligence and the unusual lack of snow on the roof for leading them to the discovery. 'Your favourite Task Force team have executed a drugs warrant on St James' Road in Blackburn this morning,' the statement read. 'This was as a result of intelligence received from the community, along with the lack of snow on the roof during the recent cold spell.' The statement continued, 'Your intelligence proved to be correct as a full cannabis set-up was found with 80 mature plants being seized, which will be destroyed.'The police department also addressed common questions they anticipated from the public, such as inquiries about the availability of the seized cannabis and arguments that cannabis should not be illegal. They affirmed their commitment to tackling all types of crime, stating, 'We will, as soon as we've dismantled your illegal cannabis set up.' The statement concluded with a promise of further action, 'We've got more warrants planned for each day of this week, so keep your eyes peeled for more updates!' The police department also promoted their LancsLive WhatsApp group, inviting residents to join for breaking news and updates from across Lancashire
