MANILA, Philippines — Marina Tushova made Premier Volleyball League history on Thursday after scoring 45 points to propel Capital1 to a 13-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-20, 15-13 victory over Choco Mucho in the PVL 2024 Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
The Russian spiker erased the previous single-game scoring record of Pocari's Prisilla Rivera who scored 44 points in a game against Choco Mucho in the 2022 Reinforced Conference. Aside from scoring on 43 attacks, one block and an ace, Tushova also completed a triple-double with 18 excellent receptions and 12 excellent digs. 'I always told Marina that I would rather see her with my team than from the other side.
Her 43 attacks also broke the old mark of 40 made by Banko Perlas Spikers' Kia Bright during the 2018 Reinforced Conference.Tushova already had 40 points after four sets and scored more kills in the fifth frame.Both teams played cat and mouse in the deciding set as the score was tied for the last time at 13-all.The Solar Spikers took the upperhand after a hit by Norielle Ipac and secured Capital1's second win after Tushova channeled all her strength and slammed a through-the-block kill.
