Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder
A quiet residential street on the Beechwood Estate in Birkenhead was cordoned off after a man in his 20s died. The man was pronounced dead at the scene on Thursday, August 1, by paramedics. A post mortem examination is being carried out to establish his cause of death. He has been formally identified and police are working to contact his next of kin, police said. Two men from Beechwood, one aged 43 and the other aged 27, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
The row of houses within the police cordon sit opposite a skate park where children continued to play as the police forensics teams carried out their investigations. Neighbours were unsettled by the large police presence and many were concerned for the welfare of the young man. One neighbour said: 'You don't expect really serious things like this to happen on your doorstep'.
