Labour's shadow culture secretary is defeated as Greens see huge swing to their party.

Green Party co-leader Carla Denyer has won in Bristol Central, defeating Labour's shadow culture secretary Thangam Debbonaire.Bristol Central had been a target seat for the Greens and is its first victory so far.

The party is still predicted to win seven per cent of the vote which would be its best general election performance yet.Celebrating her own win, Ms Denyer said Bristol has "made history". She said people had been hesitant about voting for her party in the past because they didn't think they would win.
