Carol Vorderman has been slammed by some fans after she shared her own story of going missing after talking about the disappearance of teenager Jay Slater in Tenerife
Carol Vorderman has sparked fury after she made a comparison to Jay Slater, the teen who went missing while on holiday in Tenerife. The beloved TV personality said his disappearance made her reflect on the time she went missing.
Whilst recounting her experience to LBC, Carol revealed that during that difficult period, she locked herself away from the world, unable to face anyone as she processed her sorrow alone. But in light of teenager Jay Slater's mysterious disappearance, fans have pointed out that Carol's story is not quite on the same level, reports the Mirror.
Through tears, Vorderman explained to the LBC audience how tough it was dealing with her feelings publicly. She said of her late Countdown colleague: "Richard Whiteley died, and he died quite suddenly. Every day people would talk to me about him, even though I wasn’t with him. There was a great love between us, but I couldn’t cope, I just couldn’t cope."
Emphasising her disconnection, she continued: "I had my purse, and just locked myself away then, switch my phone off, all of that. I just stayed in that room, just to get my thoughts together really. So I do understand when people say that that’s their only option, I really do. There’s no shame about it, that’s why I’m telling this story for the first time. There’s no shame, everyone has those moments, I believe, at some point.
