JON JOHNSON OZARK – The one-two scoring punch of Emma Edler and Laynie Recor provided the goals and the outstanding play of the defense and goalkeeper Ashlyn Yarbrough made it stand in Carroll High’s 2-1 win over Northside Methodist Academy on Tuesday.
Recor and Edler have played for Carroll coach Kirke Adams for six years and he’s watched them grow into top players and leaders. Carroll improved to 19-2-2 overall and will next host Faith Academy in the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs next Tuesday night.It was the second time in just more than a week that Carroll defeated NMA by the score of 2-1.
“It’s fun to watch; it’s terrible to defend,” Adams said of the Knights' offense. “I thought in the second half we did a better job trying to defend that cross.”
