David Mundee Going into a volleyball tryout at the Wallace Community College of Selma campus last November, Carroll senior Miracle Jackson admitted she was nervous after seeing roughly 20 people also competing.“I felt kind pressured – a type of pressure not someone put on me, but when I walked in and saw how many people were in there. In a crowd of so many people, it is hard to stick out,” Jackson said.
On Monday, Jackson held a signing ceremony at Carroll High School in front of family and friends for her commitment to play volleyball at Wallace-Selma. “I know I have to work hard because of how hard they worked to get where they are. My mom had to get off work just to get to my signing and she went right back. She is a go-getter, so I have to be a go-getter like her. She represents who I want to be later in the future.”“They gave me a really big chance that I wouldn’t have had otherwise, especially in what they were offering me,” Jackson said. “They offered something that other colleges wouldn’t offer .
“She motivates teammates. We had some challenging games and she still found a way to find some kind of gumption to help her team and keep her team going. She may go off to the side or may even say a prayer to herself. That is fine. She gets ready back into it.”
