The lawsuit was filed against Cash App and its developer, Block Inc., by customers who claimed the companies were “negligent and breached other obligations” when a former employee accessed users’ account data without their permission in 2022. In addition, the lawsuit claims an unauthorized Cash App customer accessed certain users’ accounts in 2023.

To file a claim, customers must provide documentation showing one of the following: that they notified Cash App of the unauthorized account activity, they filed a police report concerning the unauthorized account activity, or any documentation the settlement administrator deems sufficient, according to the website.
As part of the settlement reached between both parties, Cash App denies any liability or wrongdoing in the case.
