With assistance from Cats Protection, the charity solved the mystery of Melvin’s journey to Scotland and reunited him with his owners.
Melvin was picked up in Erskine on May 22 after members of the public who had been feeding him since Christmas reported that he looked unwell.
The mystery was soon solved with the help of Cats Protection who traced his owners Jacqueline and Matt Dick. Cheeky Melvin managed to survive on handouts from Erskine residents for 11 months before he was reunited with his owners at the charity's Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre. “We just want to say a big thank you to everyone who looked out for him while he was missing and helped get him back home where he belongs.”Scottish SPCA chief inspector, Laura McIntyre said: "One of the first things we do with animals when they come into our care is scan them for a microchip.
