The cause of a blaze at an empty hotel which sparked a three hour response has yet to be determined.
Crews spent much of Sunday evening fighting a fire at the old Woodley Hotel and World Motel on Lansdowne Place after being called at 5pm. In total, eight fire engines were sent from Blackpool, South Shore, Bispham, St Annes, Preston, and Fleetwood, alongside the aerial ladder platform from Preston. They spent three hours tackling the fire, with residents warned to keep windows and doors shut to avoid the effects of the smoke.
Today, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said it did not have information on the cause of the fire, while Lancashire Constabulary confirmed that it was still to be determined. As yet, no formal joint investigation has been launched.A fire service spokesperson said: “Eight fire engines from Blackpool, South Shore, Bispham, St Annes, Preston, Fleetwood, and the aerial ladder platform from Preston attended an incident on Lansdowne Place in Blackpool.
