Police have released an image of a man they want to trace after an elderly man was cruelly conned out of £800 in Nottingham. The victim, a man in his 70s, was approached by a scammer outside Lidl supermarket in Carrington on Tuesday, April 9, at around 12pm.
This man pressured the pensioner to take a bag supposedly containing a laptop and mobile phone and then marched him to a cash machine to draw out £800 for it. When he paid the money, the suspect handed him a bag of fizzy drinks, Nottinghamshire Police said. Officers have now issued an image of a man who they believe could help with their investigation. PC Aiden Cook, who is investigating the incident, said: "This was a despicable crime, with the victim targeted just because of his vulnerability. This is a tactic often used by criminals, using persistence to ensure the person parts with their money.“We are determined to catch the person responsible to ensure no one else falls victim to this heinous crime.
“We have carried out a number of lines of inquiry and have released an image of a man that could help us further our inquiries. Do you know the man in the picture? Are you the man in the picture?
