A fourth grader at Harmony Science Academy- Cedar Park recently made an incredible mathematical achievement.
Darsh Singh, age 9, scored a perfect 100% on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness math exam. The news came as a surprise to Darsh's teacher, Joy Anderson, who was out of the country when she received the call informing her of her student's extraordinary performance. "When I scored 100% on my math, I really felt happy. I felt proud to have accomplished such a high score on my STAAR test, and now I also feel more confident about facing future challenges," Darsh said.in overall math proficiency on the STAAR assessments, which they attribute to learning disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The minimum passing score for the math portion of the STAAR test ranges from 25% to 35%.
Darsh's fourth-grade teacher described the young student as someone who "loves solving problems on the board" and is always eager to assist his peers who may be struggling with mathematical concepts. "I love math! The numbers are helpful in real life, so naturally, I want to excel at them," Darsh explained. "My teacher, Mrs. Joy, played a big role in helping me learn and apply the knowledge I've gained over the years. I'm thrilled to have achieved a perfect score."
