HABBIBI, a Manchester restaurant popular with celebrities, raised £25,000 for children's charities by donating £1 from each customer's bill.
A Manchester restaurant popular with celebrities has announced the substantial sum it has raised for children's charities. The Dubai-inspired restaurant and shisha terrace HABBIBI pledged to donate £1 from every table's bill since the summer and has used the funds to provide Christmas presents to thousands of children living in poverty across Greater Manchester and Leeds.
The Spinningfields eatery has become a sought-after destination frequented by many famous faces, including Love Island winner Ekin-Su, boxing champ Amir Khan, and Team GB Olympic gold medallist Keely Hodgkinson, as well as a variety of Premier League footballers, soap actors, and reality TV stars. Since opening its doors in Manchester in June this year, the restaurant, along with its sister site located in the Victoria Leeds shopping centre, decided to collect £1 from every customer's bill and set it aside to support charitable causes. The donation wasn't an additional cost to the customer but was instead deducted from the total bill amount from each booking on behalf of the restaurant. HABBIBI has now confirmed the impressive amount it has been able to give to charity - £25,000. So far, HABBIBI has donated £10,000 to Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Manchester, a further £10,000 to Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Leeds, and £5,000 to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity. All funds have gone directly to purchasing Christmas presents for underprivileged children and families living across both cities and will hopefully bring some festive joy and a welcome distraction from what can be a very difficult period for families in financial difficulty and children having to spend their Christmas in hospital. HABBIBI’s Head Chef Djafar Yousfi was joined by former Coronation Street star Victoria Ekanoye to deliver the presents to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital on Oxford Road this week
