An investigation is underway at the Cebu City Jail male dormitory due to anomalies allegedly committed by some jail personnel including smuggling cellphones in exchange for cash.
In the GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak report of Alan Domingo aired on "24 Oras," a former inmate, Gordon , disclosed that some jail guards allegedly receive P50,000 to P60,000 in exchange for allowing inmates access to ordinary cellphones.
He said that whenever there was a greyhound operation or inspection inside the jail facility, it is the corrupt jail personnel themselves who hide the cellphones. With this revelation, the Cebu City Jail also coordinated with the Philippine National Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for an in-depth investigation into the allegations.
City Jail officials have also encouraged Gordon to identify the personnel involved so as to clear those that are not involved.
