Celtic could look to bring in a younger goalkeeper after a shock move to sign Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka., former Scotland defender Alan Hutton explained that the 35-year-old would not represent a long-term option for the Hoops, but his experience is what the club needs in goal.
It was suggested that a younger option could learn from him and develop into their first choice option, should Celtic explore further deals. After the departure of Joe Hart when he retired at the end of last season, Celtic have been searching for a new option in the transfer market. Dubravka emerged as a surprise option, but Hutton insisted his experience playing in front of demanding crowds and his recent game time at Newcastle has put him in a strong position.Dubravka made 30 appearances for the Magpies last season in the absence of Nick Pope, sleeping eight clean sheets – five of which came in 23 Premier League appearances.
