Celtic Could Secure Large Ticket Allocation for Scottish Cup Clash with Rangers

Celtic may be granted a significantly larger ticket allocation for their Scottish Cup quarter-final match against Rangers at Ibrox. The rules allow the away team to request up to 20% of the stadium's capacity, potentially leading to over 10,000 Celtic fans attending the match. This follows a similar situation with Hibs last season, where their ticket allocation for a quarter-final was significantly increased.

Celtic could claim a bumper ticket allocation after they were drawn to face Rangers in the Scottish Cup last eight. Both Glasgow giants progressed to the quarter-final stage of the tournament. Celtic survived a survived a scare against Dundee to see off their Premiership rivals and win in extra-time, Rangers hammered Championship strugglers Queen's Park in to progress.

Martin O'Neill's side have been pulled out of the hat against their rivals and will travel across the city to Ibrox on March 7 or March 8. But the Light Blues could see a dramatically increased turnout from the Hoops for the showdown. Both Glasgow giants allowed their rival supporters back into their stadiums last year - having previously removed the allocation. This season, Celtic have been granted around 2000 seats inside Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership. The standard away allocation for league games five per cent of the stadium capacity. However, Scottish Cup rules dictate a larger share can be requested. The rules state that the away club can claim tickets amounting to 20 per cent of spectator capacity. That would mean the Hoops could push for over 10,000 tickets at Ibrox if it signed off by both clubs and the police. A similar push for tickets came from Hibs at the quarter-final stage last season, having initially been granted around 2600 tickets for their trip to Celtic Park. Hibs announced on their website that after talks an allocation of over 7000 had been granted - a whopping 10 times more than what had previously been grated for league games.
