The Hoops legend is adamant his old club need to resist any temptation to cash in on the Japan star.
Chris Sutton insists Celtic must keep hold of Kyogo Furuhashi – and push the boat out to land Adam Idah .
“There has been talk about bids coming on from Japan but the figures mentioned for Kyogo wouldn’t even scratch the surface. Kyogo will turn 30 in January and there might be a temptation to let him go if they can get £8m or more. But how much would it cost to replace him? A heck of a lot more. Kyogo has been a superb signing for Celtic and even though some would say he didn’t quite hit the same heights last season as he did in his first two, he still managed 20 goals.
But he is convinced Celtic should be looking to splash out to bring in a proven performer. He said: “There is a new manager at Norwich with Johannes Hoff Thorup coming in and I’d image that he would want to assess the squad. He will have seen the impact Idah made at Celtic and it could persuade him to give him another crack at the club. The display might also have pushed up the fee to sign him on a permanent deal. At one stage the talk was about £3m then maybe £5m or £6m.
