Celtic Football Club experienced a significant surge in pre-tax profit during the first half of the 2024-25 financial year, reaching nearly £44 million. This increase was largely driven by substantial profits from player sales. However, the club also witnessed a slight decline in overall revenue compared to the previous year.

Celtic Football Club has reported a significant increase in pre-tax profit for the first half of the 2024-25 financial year, reaching almost £44 million. This figure represents a substantial jump from the £30.3 million profit recorded during the same period last year. The club's interim report, released on Monday, February 10th, attributes this growth primarily to a surge in profits from player sales .

The departures of several key players, including Matt O’Riley, Bosun Lawal, Tomoki Iwata, Michael Johnston, Yuki Kobayashi, Daniel Kelly, and Hyeongyu Oh, generated £21.5 million in profit, a considerable increase from the £2.6 million realized in the previous year.Despite this impressive financial performance, Celtic experienced a slight dip in overall revenue during the first half of 2024-25. Turnover fell from £85.2 million to £83.5 million. While stadium operations revenue climbed from £29.8 million to £31.6 million, commercial revenue declined from £37.2 million to £33.8 million, and merchandising revenue slipped from £18.3 million to £18.1 million. Chairman Peter Lawwell anticipates that the club's total financial performance for the full fiscal year, concluding on June 30th, will be noticeably lower than the impressive results seen in the first six months. This projection is attributed to the significant investment made by Celtic during the summer transfer window. The club shattered its transfer record twice, acquiring a host of new players, including Arne Engels, Adam Idah, Auston Trusty, Paulo Bernardo, Luke McCowan, Viljami Sinisalo, Kasper Schmeichel, and Alex Valle. This spree of signings resulted in a substantial increase in transfer spending, rising from £12.9 million in 2023 to £28.1 million. Despite these financial considerations, Celtic remains a force to be reckoned with on the pitch. The club boasts a commanding lead in the Scottish Premiership, currently 13 points clear of their Old Firm rivals. They also successfully captured the Premier Sports Cup trophy after defeating Brendan Rodgers' team. Celtic's upcoming challenge is a showdown with Bayern Munich in the Champions League knockout play-off round. The first leg of this crucial encounter will take place at Celtic Park on Wednesday, February 12th
