Sienna Miller said Chadwick Boseman boosted her salary from his own pocket to get her to star in theKind gestures that Chadwick extended to his friends, family and fans have been going public since the Black Panther starAnd Sienna, who starred as an NYPD detective alongside Chadwick in the 2019 action thriller, recalled how the late actor fought for her to get a higher pay packet – before taking money out of his own salary to bridge the gap., had an ‘active role’ in getting her on board.
‘This was a pretty big budget film, and I know that everybody understands about the pay disparity in Hollywood, but I asked for a number that the studio wouldn’t get to,’ she toldSienna went on: ‘And Chadwick ended up donating some of his salary to get me to the number that I had asked for. He said that that was what I deserved to be paid.
‘It was about the most astounding thing that I’ve experienced. That kind of thing just doesn’t happen. He said, “You’re getting paid what you deserve, and what you’re worth”.’ Sienna said it was ‘unfathomable’ that an actor would behave that ‘graciously or respectfully’ – and that many of her male actor friends were left feeling pretty sheepish when she recounted Chadwick’s generosity to them.
The Layer Cake star added that there was no ‘showiness’ in Chadwick’s offer – and that he simply said, ‘Of course I’ll get you to that number’.Sienna and Chadwick grew close on the set of the action drama and she posted an emotional tribute after the star’s death.‘He was one of the great actors and men. He radiated warmth and wisdom: talent and deep kindness.’
