An event by Labour Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ in Scotland has been cancelled amid a row over a £22 billion funding black hole.
The high-profile Cabinet figure yesterday unveiled a series of cuts to deal with unplanned public spending. Around £16bn of the £22bn in unfunded spending commitments she identified from the last Tory Government remains to be accounted for, prompting speculation of tax rises in October’s Budget.
