Channel 4's new drama 'Patience' has received mixed reactions from viewers, with some praising its unique premise and others accusing it of being unoriginal and too similar to the French series 'Astrid'.
Channel 4 's new drama Patience divided audiences with its second episode, which aired on Thursday night. The series unfolds over six parts and dives into a police investigation aided by an autistic woman, Patience Evans, portrayed by Ella Maisy Purvis. DI Bea Metcalf (Laura Fraser) notices Patience 's distinct perspective and incorporates her into her investigative team, which faces intense scenarios.
In the opening two episodes, Metcalf and Patience work together to unravel the mysterious death of a man, suspecting outsider involvement. But viewer reactions are mixed; while some are captivated by the narrative, others have criticised the show as unoriginal, likening it to the French series Astrid. Critiques and comparisons flooded social media platform X, with one viewer stating: 'Patience is a copy of the French drama, which is amazing. Astrid, Murder in Paris. While Patience is okay, it's a far cry from the original. Not very inventive of @Channel4,' reports the Express.
