Channel 5 has announced the release date of a "gripping" new drama featuring two stars from All Creatures Great and Small. The Fortune - starring Callum Woodhouse and Matthew Lewis alongside Poldark's Eleanor Tomlinson - arrives on June 2.
The broadcaster posted an image on Instagram depicting cast members gathered around a coffin, accompanied by the tagline: "When there's a will, there's a war.
" The caption read: "An inheritance from a stranger... sounds like a dream come true. But luck like this? Always comes at a cost.
" Upon The Fortune's announcement, Channel 5 described it as "a gripping, psychological drama that asks: what if your past isn't what you think it is? " Eleanor portrays Amanda Blakefield, whose contented existence with husband Jimmy, portrayed by Matthew , and son Luke takes an unexpected turn, reports the Mirror.
A synopsis revealed: "Amanda has her world shattered after she is left an enormous inheritance by a man she has neither met nor heard of before.
"Her life starts to disintegrate as she becomes embroiled in the world of The Worrall Family. "The patriarch Martin Worrall , is head of a family which is bound in past secrets. As Amanda's story leads her further and further into the Northumbrian countryside, she begins to unravel the past. And all of their lives are turned upside down.
" Rebecca Front is set to portray Martin's wife Fiona, while Callum, known for his role as Tristan Farnon in All Creatures Great and Small, takes on the part of his son Anthony. The ensemble also features Stephen Tompkinson, Paula Wilcox, Danielle Walters and Nina Wadia.
Upon the series' announcement last year, Paul Testar, commissioning editor at 5, described how the programme "explores the fragility of family and the ripple effects of long-buried truths, all anchored by a brilliant cast led by Eleanor Tomlinson". He went on to say it was a drama "that promises to keep audiences hooked from the very first minute".
Anticipation is building amongst viewers who have said they "can't wait" for the drama to air, with one Instagram user posting: "I love this cast!
" "Will be amazing," remarked another viewer, while a third commented: "Can't wait for this. Looks brilliant from the trailers. And what a stellar cast.
" "ACGAS legends reunite," noted another fan. The Fortune airs at 9pm on June 2 on 5.
