Videos show huge queues of traffic after police blocked roads and motorway slip lanes
There was 'chaos' on the motorway with roads closed by police after a huge car meet moved across Greater Manchester on Sunday night .
In total, three vehicles were seized and more than 50 drivers will be prosecuted for taking part Sunday night's activities that police say 'puts lives at risk' and causes danger on the roads. "When the roads were closed it caused more carnage and a lot more traffic. It was chaos. We moved to Middleton and they had riot vans out.
Witnesses described scenes of 'carnage' when they saw the procession passing through Middleton, as one person said: "There was helicopters, riot vans, and police bikes blocking off junctions. It was carnage. Traffic was backed up for miles and petrol stations packed out nearby. The police were absolutely everywhere."
PC Garner from Operation Marshall said: “This is a fantastic step towards making the roads of Greater Manchester a safer place for all those them. My message to those involved in car meets is clear, your actions create risks sadly seen from tragic events in history.
