‘Can’t wait to watch our guys compete in the game,” coach Jim Harbaugh says before Saturday’s preseason game, his first NFL competition in more than nine years

Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh, claps as quarterback Max Duggan looks on during an NFL rookie minicamp football practice May 10, 2024, in Costa Mesa, Calif. If we’ve learned anything from the Chargers’ first 14 training camp sessions over the past three weeks, it’s that their defense is significantly more advanced than their offense. The cheers from the field and from the sidelines, the whoops and hollers and backslaps and high-fives tell a story.

Stick, Max Duggan and Casey Bauman struggled to move the ball during a joint practice Sunday with the Rams. Luis Perez was signed Tuesday in order to light a fire under the other three, and it seemed to work during much-improved practices Wednesday and, especially, Thursday. So, it leaves plenty of opportunities for the Chargers to show off their depth at the position. Tuli Tuipuloto, Chris Rumph and, possibly, Bud Dupree, plus several others could get plenty of snaps against the Seahawks. Tre’Mon Morris-Brash, an undrafted rookie from Central Florida, also could get a good, long look.
