Jessica Ayo sued the Resuscitation Council, a charity that provides education, training and research for CPR and other medical practices, after she was accused of being 'aggressive'.
A charity worker who misunderstood the meaning of the phrase 'No Biggie' in an email that led to a workplace dispute has lost her race discrimination claim against the firm.
Not understanding what the term meant, the charity worker replied saying she was 'concerned as there seems to be a recurring theme' that she had experienced a number of technical faults in recent weeks. She emailed Mr Williams and his line manager Carrie Gaston about the matter who looked into it and said what she alleged was 'not the case' and replied with a screenshot showing Ms Ayo was still in the group. 'I was informed about the email through my ALS colleagues. Also, what does"no biggie" mean as I am not familiar with this terminology.'You can also see that the email was cc'd to all the other coordinators but my name was omitted from the list.
During the conversation, Ms Gaston gave Ms Ayo feedback and allegedly said that the tone of her emails were 'accusatory' and 'aggressive' at which the coordinator became 'visibly upset and went quiet'. She raised a complaint with Mr Williams and said that the comments from Ms Gaston were 'a racial attack' and she would be taking her complaint 'to the highest possible level'.
Employment Judge Pavel Klimov said: 'She said that she was still unwell and needed time to recuperate.
