King Charles celebrates his first birthday as monarch today, and the royal will have the day marked with a Changing of the Guard honour and special gun salutes.
Charles’ son Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton were quick to wish the monarch a Happy Birthday, writing on The Prince and Princess of Wales Twitter account: “Wishing a very happy birthday to His Majesty The King!”The Royal Family’s official Twitter account also sent birthday wishes, writing: “Wishing His Majesty The King a very happy birthday today.”His birthday comes a day after he joined senior royals to pay respects and lay wreaths in an emotional ceremony on Remembrance Sunday.
Camilla and Kate dressed respectfully in all black with three poppies pinned to their right shoulders. The pair watched the service from a balcony in Whitehall.Buckingham Palace confirmed the monarch died “peacefully” at her Scottish home Balmoral, where she traditionally spent August to October every year.
