‘Coughing Major’ Charles Ingram has confirmed that his pet did actually get shot after hisNew ITV drama Quiz has been telling the story of the Major’s appearance on the show with his wife Diana, with the final episode of the mini-series showing the couple’s trial, and the events afterwards.
While Diana tells the children to go upstairs, she finds Charles cradling their dog, who had been shot.With a viewer asking Charles on Twitter if his dog really did get shot, he answered: ‘Cat. She was shot by an air gun. Buffy did survive, after an operation.’Cat. She was shot by an air gun. Buffy did survive, after an operation. James Graham probably didnât know that she had survived.
‘And then somebody shot another of the animals. And you just think, as ever, with a question around proportionality compared to the crime itself, I think is what is actually one of the areas I’m not uncertain or ambiguous about.‘I think it’s safe to say that the response and the level of scrutiny and the level of punishment that the Ingrams received across the board for this alleged crime was not proportionate to what they were accused of doing.
