A new investigation by NewsGuard reveals that AI chatbots are susceptible to regurgitating Russian disinformation.
The study focused on popular chatbots including OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4, among others, revealing troubling trends in the dissemination of false narratives.The study conducted by NewsGuard, a news monitoring service, raises concerns about the inadvertent spread of Russia n misinformation by prominent AI models.
The prompts centered around stories associated with John Mark Dougan, an American fugitive allegedly involved in spreading misinformation from Moscow, asAccording to the findings, these chatbots, which are increasingly relied upon for information by users globally, regurgitated Russian disinformation narratives approximately 32% of the time.
