Chelsea may struggle to comply with Uefa’s allowable loss limit if they qualify for European football next season.that Chelsea’s hotel sales may be banned under Uefa’s rules.
The Blues are in position to compete for qualification to European football next season after climbing up to seventh in the Premier League table. However, competing in Europe would require Chelsea to comply with Uefa’s financial regulations which will cap clubs to spending 80 percent of their revenue on wages and transfer fees next season.
The regulations also only allow clubs to lose a maximum of £51million over three seasons – as opposed to the £105million allowed under Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules.Maguire explained that Chelsea could fail to follow Uefa rules as the £77million of their club hotels might be prohibited.The wage cap which exists in the form of the squad cost control spending is something which they should be able to deal with.
