Graham Potter was content with a point at Brentford and has explained why he waited until the 81st minute to bring on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. CFC
Chelsea boss Potter says Brentford draw was ‘fair’ result as Frank insists his side ‘deserved the win’
“We’re always disappointed when we don’t win,” Potter told Amazon Prime. “Over the course of the game a point is fair, they had chances and we pushed at the end. Aubameyang was finally sent on with nine minutes remaining but his only half-chance was a low drive from outside the area which was easily gathered by Bees keeper David Raya.
Kepa Arrizabalaga tipped Ivan Toney’s header over and made a point-blank save from Bryan Mbeumo, while David Raya kept out Cesar Azpilicueta’s drive and saved from teenage substitute Carney Chukwuemeka in stoppage time. But Potter revealed: “I haven’t spoken to the doctors but he just felt ill, he said he thought he was going to be sick. Hopefully it’s a 24-hour thing and he’ll be OK.”“Every player needs confidence, this push, and for the goalkeepers it is even more important,” the Spaniard said.
“The feeling is that we have dropped two points and we wanted three points to be fighting with the top clubs.”
