Chelsea joins the battle for Lecce's Patrick Dorgu, competing with Tottenham and attracting interest from Manchester United.
Chelsea and Tottenham are competing for the signature of Danish star Patrick Dorgu from Lecce . Dorgu, who is 20 years old, has impressed with his performances for Lecce in Serie A and is reportedly a top target for Spurs in the January transfer window. However, Chelsea are now also showing interest in the left-back, with scouts keeping a close eye on his progress. Manchester United have also been linked with a move for Dorgu, who is expected to cost around £50m.
Chelsea are currently considered to be in the lead for Dorgu's signature. Dorgu made his debut for the senior Denmark national team earlier this season and has earned four caps. He joined Lecce's academy from FC Nordsjælland in 2022. Dorgu has played 52 matches for Lecce across all competitions. His contract runs until 2029 and doesn't include a release clause, meaning Lecce can demand a significant fee. Spurs are disappointed that they didn't make a move for Dorgu sooner, having been linked with him last summer. While Liverpool was also linked to Dorgu earlier this year, a transfer never materialized. Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca highly values Dorgu's versatility and his ability to play both in defence and midfield. Maresca has repeatedly expressed concerns about Chelsea's defense, stating that it's a reason why they are not serious title contenders
