Chelsea could be set to pay a “very high” transfer fee to sign Genk goalkeeper Mike Penders before the transfer deadline. It is believed Penders will be immediately loaned back to Genk and spend the rest of the season with the Belgian club if the deal goes through.
The Belgium Under-19 international only made his senior debut on 28 July against Standard Liege, where he kept a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw. While Borson accepts Penders has likely been well-scouted by Chelsea, he admitted the fee in question seems too high for the teenage goalkeeper.Join the Football Insider WhatsApp channel to get all our exclusives and the breaking transfer news FIRST.
