Pop star Cher Lloyd is back with a new single, 'Head Down,' marking her return to music after several years focusing on family. The song reflects on her experiences during her rise to fame and her journey to find her voice as an independent artist.
After several years out of the spotlight, Cher Lloyd is back with a brand new single , ' Head Down .' The track marks her return to music after a hiatus that saw her focus on raising her two daughters. 'I'd love to say the past couple of years have been really easy... they haven't. It's been hard,' Cher admits in a new interview with Metro. She explains that the decision to step back came after leaving her previous record label.
'When I left that label, I just needed to refocus and find my confidence again. I feel like I was in a bit of a dark place with that.' Cher battled with 'imposter syndrome,' questioning if her creations were 'good enough.' 'I just had to retreat,' she shares. 'I spent a few years just in writing sessions and trying to figure out what felt right. I remember the day I wrote Head Down; I just felt like a massive weight had been lifted off me. I'd wanted to say these things for so long, but I just didn't know how to say them just by speaking; putting pen to paper instead was therapeutic to me.'The new single reflects on her experiences during her rise to fame, capturing the rawness of the journey. 'Head Down' follows in the footsteps of her previous hits like 'Swagger Jagger,' 'Sirens,' and 'None of My Business.' Now an independent artist, Cher embraces the freedom of releasing music on her own terms. 'Right now, being able to release music on my own terms... it feels so much better,' she states. 'Wouldn't people rather see me for me than see a version that 15 men in suits have decided I should be?' Her journey back to music comes after several years dedicated to family. Cher married Craig Monk in 2013 and has welcomed two daughters in 2018 and 2023. While excited about her musical comeback, she admits to feeling nervous about returning to the public eye. 'I still feel really nervous about putting myself back out there.'
