Chester Zoo has an opportunity to join its team as a keeper of several bird species including parrots and penguins. The zoo – situated around 40 miles from Manchester – is the most visited in the UK, welcoming 2m people through its gates every year, according to its website.
Chester Zoo currently has a range of job opportunities posted on its website, including the position of Lead Keeper on one of its large and varied bird sections. So, if you fancy yourself as a bit of a Doctor Dolittle, or a real-life Mister Popper, then this job could be for you.The role will involve assisting with the daily care and management of several bird species including parrots and penguins – or Psittaciformes and Sphenisciformes.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience working as an aviculturist in a zoological or conservation–breeding facility, as well as a Higher National Diploma or degree level qualification in a zoological related science. The Lead Keeper position is a permanent, full-time role with 40 hours per week required.
