Paul and Hilary Deffley tie the knot in a 'beautiful' ceremony at the hospice where he received care
A grandfather with incurable cancer married his partner of 24 years at a Derbyshire hospice where he was receiving care.
The 71-year-old, who has prostate and bone cancer, which has spread to his spine, had been receiving care at the hospice since the beginning of October.When the hospice's staff heard he had proposed, they organised the wedding in under a week with the help of local businesses. "I made the decision to ask Hilary a couple of weeks [before he proposed], but without the hospice and the help of local businesses it wouldn't have happened.""Everything was just done up beautifully," he said.A room at the hospice's inpatient unit was dressed up for the ceremony
"The wedding was absolutely lovely. They managed to get Paul's suit, shirt and everything on. He looked lovely - if I do say so myself."
