Heavy rains and possible tornadoes caused damage throughout the Chicago area.
Thousands of people in the Chicago area were left without power on Tuesday after severe thunderstorms with heavy rains and possible tornadoes swept through the region.According to the National Weather Service , 5-7 inches of rain fell on the area within eight hours on Tuesday, triggering flash floods and raising fears of 'life-threatening' conditions.The storms cut power to residents' homes and caused damage to property, trees and power lines.
In a post on X on Monday, the NWS' Chicago service reported 'seeing power flashes on both the O'Hare and Midway Airport webcams due to likely tornadoes and/or destructive wind gusts near those areas.'NWS Chicago has continued to update residents on the storms, and the agency posted to X that they are sending teams to survey the damage the storms left and identify potential tornado tracks.'Good morning.
