Chick-fil-A is bringing its popular chicken sandwiches and 'signature hospitality' to Northern Ireland with the opening of its first restaurant outside of North America.

Chick-fil-A is making its debut in Northern Ireland with the opening of its first restaurant outside of North America. The US fast-food giant will open its doors at Applegreen's Lisburn South motorway service area on the M1 on Thursday, January 30. This marks a significant expansion for Chick-fil-A, which has a successful partnership with Applegreen in the United States, operating 14 restaurants at its US motorway service areas.

This venture will create 70 new jobs, bringing Applegreen's total employment in Northern Ireland to 351. The chain has partnered with Applegreen Northern Ireland for this expansion, with a second location set to open at Applegreen Templepatrick on the M2 in March. Chick-fil-A, renowned for its Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich and commitment to 'signature hospitality,' is the third largest quick service restaurant company by sales volume in the United States. It currently operates over 3,000 restaurants across the US, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Joanna Symonds, Head of UK Operations for Chick-fil-A, Inc., expressed excitement about bringing the brand to Belfast. 'We are excited to bring Chick-fil-A to Belfast with the opening of our Applegreen licensed location, marking a key milestone in our expansion into the UK,' she said. 'From day one, we’ve strived to positively impact each and every community in which we operate, and we look forward to continuing that tradition.' Chick-fil-A plans to open five restaurants in the UK over the next two years, employing both licensed and locally owned and operated models. London, Leeds, and Liverpool are also slated to receive Chick-fil-A locations. The openings follow recent upgrades to the Applegreen service areas at Lisburn South and Templepatrick, which include new M&S Food stores. Applegreen operates five locations in Northern Ireland, including the two largest sites just outside Lisburn on both sides of the M1 motorway, as well as sites in Templepatrick, Ballymena, and Hillsborough
