Federico Chiesa could make his first start for Liverpool in Wednesday's Carabao Cup tie against West Ham after coming off the bench in his last two appearances. The Italian winger joined from Juventus in the summer but is still catching up fitness-wise.
Liverpool aren't hiding the fact that Federico Chiesa is in line to make a first start since his summer transfer as Arne Slot starts his domestic cup journey in English football on Wednesday night. Having come off the bench against Bournemouth for a second appearance, Chiesa is a strong contender to play again at Anfield in midweek.
“They will come in today and we will look at how fit they are, and then I will make the decision who is going to start and who isn’t.” However, he did speak specifically about the Italian. “He is able to start, in our opinion, and if he will, let’s see,' Slot cryptically revealed. 'There are many options we have but he is able to start, in our opinion, but I don’t think he is able to play 90 at the level we are playing tomorrow against a strong West Ham team.
